Gen Z and Millennials experience workplace burnout at a higher rate than other gens.

Aug 18 2025

Gen Z and Millennials experience workplace burnout at a higher rate than other gens. A Seramount survey found that 77% of Millennials and 72% of Gen Z workers have experienced at least one symptom of workplace burnout—higher than Gen X (62%) and far more than Baby Boomers (38%). YPulse data echoes this trend, with 60% of employed 13-39-year-olds agreeing they’re often overwhelmed by work. The consequences are costly: U.S. employers lose $225B annually due to illness and injury, and much of it is tied to mental health challenges. Younger workers especially feel unsupported, with the majority saying their companies don’t provide adequate mental health resources, and fewer than half rating their personal well-being as above average. Experts point to factors like economic instability and pandemic disruptions underscoring the urgent need for better workplace mental health support. (The Business Journals)
