Netflix and Spotify teamed up for a golf-inspired mobile game. Though gaming is neither brands’ main content, in an effort to reach more young people and promote Netflix’s Happy Gilmore 2, the mini-game is available directly within the Spotify app. (Talk about the gamification of entertainment!) This is Spotify’s first-ever interactive gaming experience tied to a major film release, and while Netflix has been dabbling in games for years, it’s been only within their platform. Users can perfect their golf swing across three holes to unlock audio clips and easter eggs from the movie (like Happy’s boots or his signature hockey stick) and receive a personalized playlist. At the end of the game, users can share their final score on social media—something Spotify activations are, of course, no stranger to. (TechCrunch)
