Gen Z wants their coffee served in buckets. First it was tiramisu in glass purses, then it was the Weck jar obsession. Now, young people are loving their iced coffees and lattes served in giant buckets with handles. Whether they’re making their own coffee buckets at home or buying them from the small businesses that have jumped on the trend, young people are going viral on TikTok for their massive coffees. (Which are often for their novelty appeal more than the flavor.) Some indie coffee shop owners say they started serving coffee buckets to set themselves apart from chains like Starbucks and Dunkin’—one store reported coffee buckets now make up over 30% of their orders. Others say it’s been a fun way to integrate a community-focused mindset into their business as young consumers often split the buckets with friends. (NYT)
