For Gen Z, it’s never too early to start a side hustle. While Millennials may have first found the way for passive, digital entrepreneurship as an alternate career path, Gen Z isn’t waiting until they’re adults to join in. More than half of 12-28-year-olds are already earning money online through creative ventures like reselling clothes, streaming video games, and posting on social media. They’re not just experimenting either; even the youngest of this age group are reportedly earning an average of nearly $14 an hour, which rivals or surpasses what many adults make in entry-level jobs. Plus, 72% say they know someone who already makes money online. Out of the young side hustlers surveyed, 52% say they want to turn their side work into full-time careers, making financial independence part of their lives earlier than any other gen.
