Gen Z consumers in Spain are the most likely to splurge in bars. A study from employers’ association AECOC shows that 63% of Spaniards are consuming as much or more in bars and restaurants than before the economic struggles of recent years, and Gen Z is the most likely of any generation to do so. Many experts say this is due to the gen’s “financial nihilism” mindset, citing other habits like their “increasingly risky investments in platforms like cryptocurrency” which define it. Half (51%) of 18-29-year-olds even say that despite the high prices, they’ll keep going to bars and restaurants as an escape from everyday life, and Millennials aren’t far behind at 50%. (The Local)
