Millennials are divided on location sharing with their friends. For Gen Z, sharing locations with more than just a few close family members is a semi-normal part of friendship, convenience, and staying connected. According to YPulse, nearly a third of young people share their location on social media, with the behavior being more common among 13-17-year-olds (31%) than 25-39-year-old Millennials (27%). In 2022, The New York Times reported that 77% of Millennials said they activated location sharing features at least occasionally. But now, that openness seems to be cooling off. While Gen Z grew up with features like Snapchat’s Snap Map, which YPulse data shows 42% of 18-24-year-olds and 32% of 13-17-year-olds use, Millennials are more hesitant to make this their norm. As they age and their priorities shift, some embrace it to stay connected like the younger gen, but others see constant tracking as overly intimate or even a little creepy. (Business Insider)
