A bar dedicated to women’s sports is expanding into a franchise. Just a few months ago, YPulse reported on the growing popularity of women’s sports bars, with the number of dedicated venues set to quadruple this year. Thanks to this growing interest, Portland based bar, The Sports Bra, recently announced plans to open its first franchises in Boston, Indianapolis, Las Vegas, and St. Louis. First founded in 2022, CEO Jenny Nguyen says she wanted to create a place for underrepresented communities to watch equally under-televised sports. According to research firm Bain & Company, 40% of sports fans blaming a lack of coverage for their low engagement with women’s sports compared to men’s. YPulse data shows more young people are already engaging more with women’s sports this year—55% of 13-39-year-old sports fans watch women’s sports compared to 50% in 2024. (Ad Week)
