The new Lilo & Stitch movie leveraged nostalgia to score young adults. Although young gens love their streaming services, part of the massive success Lilo & Stitch is seeing is due to the decision to release the movie in theaters—an experience older audiences grew up loving—rather than exclusively on Disney+. Over Memorial Day Weekend, young people showed up at theaters ready to dive into the nostalgic, positive vibes that the Lilo & Stitch universe provides. YPulse’s Kidulting trend report shows 70% of 18-39-year-olds rewatch the same kids’ content today that they watched growing up, so it makes sense that 18-34-year-old Lilo & Stitch moviegoers made up almost 33% of the non-family audience.
