MLB is turning star players into anime heroes for a new campaign. The new series, “Heroes of the Game,” was created in collaboration with top animators and the ad agency behind McDonald’s successful anime campaign last year. The spots feature star players like Shohei Ohtani and Aaron Judge with powers unleashed by their real life pitching and hitting skills. It follows a Demon Slayer collab short run last month for Tokyo Series games, which also centered super-powered star Dodgers and Cubs players. The league is clearly tuning into the pop culture young fans are part of, but are tapping the players’ love for anime too, giving it an authentic appeal. And YPulse has seen advertainment catching Gen Z’s attention, making promotions their own kind of entertainment that further brand engagement. (Fast Company)
