Tinder launched a new AI game to help users practice flirting. The dating app’s limited-time experiment,The Game Game, is powered by Open AI’s GPT-4o and lets players chat with an AI voice in over-the-top rom-com scenarios—like an airport luggage mix-up. It works by dealing players a stack of virtual cards that each introduce a different AI persona, designed to be more funny than nerve wracking. And while launching on April 1 might seem like a joke, it’s not a prank product: the goal is for users to lean into the awkwardness to make flirting feel more fun and low-pressure. They don’t want to take the focus on real-life connections away, either—users can only play the game for three minutes at a time and are limited to five plays per day. And with Gen Z reporting major-dating app burnout according to YPulse, Tinder hopes this light-hearted approach will bring back some excitement. (Fast Company)
