Teens are using AI to help with schoolwork, but many don’t want to.

Mar 18 2025

Teens are using AI to help with schoolwork, but many don’t want to. While some teens are against using tools like Chat GPT for schoolwork, a Pew Research Center study reveals that 26% of 13-17-year-olds have used AI to help with their assignments—up +13 pts from 2023. However, Teen Vogue’s interview with students shows that not everyone is on board yet. Many students still prefer to learn on their own, worried that AI makes it too easy to skim without understanding the material they’re learning. Others simply avoid it because they don’t want to get caught by their teachers, who are getting better at spotting AI-generated work. But with AI now built into search engines like Google, students aren’t always seeking it out—sometimes, it’s just the first option they’re given. (Teen Vogue)
