Gen Z women are more entrepreneurially minded than previous gens. In honor of International Women’s Day 2025, Mastercard conducted a study on women and entrepreneurship and found that 63% of European Gen Z females are considering starting their own business. This number is significantly higher than previous generations (53% Millennials, 37% Gen X, and 21% Boomers) and makes Gen Z the keenest gen to be their own boss. Plus, over half of Gen Z women also aspire to start a side hustle outside of their main job, +11pts more than Millennials (52% vs 41%). And when looking at the reasons for starting a company, 19% of European female Gen Z say they’re motivated by doing something good for the world, whereas only 13% of Millennial women give the same answer.
