McDonald’s is promoting itself as a respite from the egg-pocalypse. The fast-food giant’s push to bring back value deals is clashing with rising egg prices—but they’re turning it into an opportunity. McDonald’s will be selling $1 Egg McMuffins through their app on March 2nd, to celebrate the menu item’s birthday. The promo is running despite the rising cost of eggs, which some chains have added surcharges for, doubling down on its reputation for affordability and being a brand that “prioritizes its customers over profit.” Young people already rank McDonald’s as their top fast-food chain, according to YPulse, and the brand could win more affinity with this group by turning a pricing challenge into a messaging win. After all, the price of eggs is top-of-mind for the gen and going viral on social. (Business Insider)
