Gen Z is fuelling the retro gaming comeback.

Feb 26 2025

Gen Z is fuelling the retro gaming comeback. A new survey from Pringles found that 24% of British 13-28-year-olds own a retro console like Game Boy, Super Nintendo, or PS1. These consoles from the ‘90s and the ‘00s are of course low-tech, meaning there’s no need for an internet connection to play games. Retro games are great for players who want to game and unplug at the same time—74% of all participants said they find retro games more relaxing than current ones. Retro gaming is getting so popular that there’s now a Retro Console Clinic in London, a pop-up event where gamers can get free repairs on their consoles and opportunities to play classic games.
