A California lawmaker wants to ban the sale of anti-aging products to minors. With more kids and teens diving into skincare routines and purchasing products like retinol and exfoliating acids, parents (and dermatologists) are getting worried about the potential harm to young skin. After all, most of these ingredients were never intended for such young consumers. In fact, there are already concerns about how effective this ban would actually be. Some of the restricted ingredients—like vitamin C—are common in everyday products like sunscreen, making enforcement tricky. Plus, parents are often the ones buying these products for their kids anyway, and brands haven’t been exactly eager to step in and limit sales. With Gen Z already fixated on their fear of aging poorly, it’s no surprise that the industry is thriving off their anxieties. (LA Times)
