Young French people are more likely than Boomers to feel lonely. A few French organizations published research on loneliness last week to acknowledge Blue Monday—the third Monday of January, traditionally known as the most depressing day of the year. One study from the Fondation de France found that Millennials are hit the hardest by loneliness: 35% of 25-39-year-olds often feel lonely, compared to only 16% of 60-69-year-olds. Another study from Ifop found that 40% of young adults 18-24-year-olds feel chronic loneliness, compared to only 7% of people over 65-year-olds. Their research also found that LGBTQ+ people and singles are more likely than other French people to feel lonely. (Le Figaro)
