Are young Brits becoming less confident in vaccines? The Vaccine Confidence Project reports a significant decline in trust regarding vaccine safety and effectiveness among young adults 18-24-year-olds. Overall vaccine confidence has decreased across all age groups in the U.K., with trust in safety falling from 90% in 2020 to 70% in 2023. But among Gen Z, just 57% feel vaccines are safe, and only 56% believe they are effective. According to experts, this hesitancy can be attributed to the fact that young people are particularly vulnerable to misinformation on social media, and that they associate vaccines with COVID-19—which majorly disrupted their lives a few years ago.
