Nickelodeon developed an animated series just for YouTube. Kid Cowboy is aimed at the youngest gen of viewers, knowing that they spend far more time on YouTube than on cable TV. A Nickelodeon EVP even notes that YouTube has “60 to 70 percent more reach among kids than Netflix does.” And while Nick has been posting content on YouTube, making an animated series specifically for it is a new venture. Already, YouTube-based shows like Cocomelon are completely dominating kids’ entertainment, pulling in billions of views a day.
