Gen Z’s economic concerns are likely behind their conservative voting shift. Gen Z is coming into adulthood with high rents, high grocery prices, and amid it all, a hyper-exposure to wealthy influencers who make their unattainable lives seem easy. According to an Empower survey, 12-27-year-olds say they’d need to make nearly $600k a year to be “financially successful,” far more than the salary any older generation named. And YPulse’s 2024 Election report showed that the economy was the number one factor that would influence potential 18-24-year-old voters in this election. So, voting Republican instead of Democrat offered a chance for change from the incumbent party, under whom the gen’s financial struggle has only seemed to increase. Still, the young gen is most hopeful about their financial future—perhaps because they expect a change from the government on the horizon. (Axios)

📊 YPulse data: 51% of 18-24-year-olds agree, “I consider myself financially stable”
