The viral Dubai chocolate bar isn’t going anywhere, anytime soon.

Nov 27 2024

The viral Dubai chocolate bar isn’t going anywhere, anytime soon. Though it initially appeared to be a run of the mill TikTok craze, Dubai chocolate quickly proved to be more than another fleeting viral food trend once consumers had a chance to taste it. Many people likened it to a KitKat, though it is filled with “pistachio nuts and aromatic pistachio nougat,” a combo that hasn’t been big in the U.S. before. At the start of the summer, the only way to acquire the chocolate was by ordering it directly from Dubai. But it soon began to appear in specialty chocolate shops and even restaurants. In those early days, due to its rarity, consumers would travel for hours in search of specialty food stores or wait in long lines to buy a bar. Now that there are so many versions being made though, food enthusiasts are convinced that this dessert has become a part of the American culinary scene here to stay. (NPR)
