Facebook is updating features to better engage Gen Z. Meta has revealed plans to upgrade the design and flow of features on of Facebook, Facebook Dating, Messenger, and Meta AI to focus more on local community content, videos, and Facebook Groups. Of course, it wants to win back engagement from young gens who prefer platforms like TikTok and Snapchat, as 33% of teens in the U.S. were active on Facebook last year, down from 71% a decade ago. But young adults especially are increasingly using features like Facebook Groups and Marketplace daily, to the point of headline attention, so it’s centering more approachable features that will help them connect with local communities, moving away from thinking of it as a “friend-focused” app. (Tech Crunch)
