Galaxy Gas whipped cream tanks are teens’ new whippets. The culinary brand Galaxy Gas sells flavored nitrous oxide tanks, which are packaged in bright colors and a space design to match their name. But in following a (long-standing) trend of young people using nitrous oxide tanks for “whippets,” or laughing gas, the brand is becoming largely misused and the subject of criticism for its marketing. The current popularity of nitrous oxide has been fueled by viral moments with celebrities reportedly using it, which others have explicitly spoken out about the dangers of. Now, TikTok has banned the searches for whippets and Galaxy Gas, and the brand even halted its sales. (USA Today, Vice)
