TikTok has a notable influence on getting its users to the movies. A new report from TikTok shows nearly half of its users have learned of a new movie from the app, but it’s the number who follow up with more engagement that truly matters. More than a third of these users (36%) went on to purchase a ticket, though a majority 73% watched the trailer—which is of course an important draw. The impact even extends to streaming among TikTok users who go to the movies at least once a month: 34% said TikTok was the influence for streaming a movie. For entertainment brands, it’s also worth knowing that simple clips are good, but not as good as tapping a trend; using a TikTok trend identifiable in the first few seconds of a post is 1.5X more likely to “hook” attention.
