Is social media responsible for Gen Z’s mental health struggles?

Is social media responsible for Gen Z’s mental health struggles? A recent study revealed that three out of four Gen Z attribute social media to a negative effect on their mental well-being. The survey indicated that among Gen Z users, Instagram (20%), TikTok (20%), and Facebook (13%) are perceived to have adverse effects on their mental health. In fact, the habit of scrolling through social media leaves almost half of Gen Z experiencing stress and anxiety. And as many young people engage in mindless scrolling or use social media out of boredom, it often links to feelings of exhaustion and a lack of mental engagement. (Coastal Breeze News)
