Venice is limiting tourist groups to 25 people. Overtourism is a growing issue in Europe, especially in countries like Spain and Italy, where many towns are too small to host flocks of tourists. The multiplication of short-term rentals is also pushing prices up, and many locals are even finding it difficult to stay in their hometowns. Venice was already at the forefront of curbing the problem of mass tourism by implementing a controversial 5€ tourist tax last month. Now, the City of Bridges is banning big groups of tourists as well as the use of loudspeakers by their tour guides. (The Local)
