“Living for the weekend” culture is shifting.

Aug 07 2024

“Living for the weekend” culture is shifting. Between expectations from friends and wanting to have a highlight reel for social media, many Gen Z are feeling an obligation to make the most of their weekends after a 9-to-5 workweek. But there seems to be a growing disdain for “living for the weekend”—young people don’t want to pack their minimal down time to the point of more stress just so they can say they’re living it up. A growing number of young people are moving past these expectations and prioritizing their own needs by choosing to rest instead of partying as if each week will be their last. And it’s inspiring a consciousness that their work / life balance simply isn’t balanced; productivity, fun, and rest are hard to squeeze into just two days. (The Independent)
