Anti-tourist protests are heating up in Spain.

Jul 10 2024

Anti-tourist protests are heating up in Spain. Thousands of people marched on Saturday in Barcelona to denounce the negative impact of mass tourism on Spain’s most visited city. Some locals even sprayed water on tourists in nearby restaurants with water pistols, indicating a “tipping point” in the escalation of tensions. Similar protests took place all over the country in the past few months. Local residents feel that too many tourists, digital nomads, and expats are threatening their country’s identity—as well as driving prices up. (The Local)
