Maven is a new social media ditching likes and follows for quality algorithms. Founders Kenneth Stanley and Twitter co-founder Ev Williams created the platform to eliminate the need for creators to worry about catering to an audience or gaining more followers. Unlike traditional platforms where users follow specific accounts, Maven is all about following topics or interests like technology, health, literature, etc. The founders have coined this approach as a “minimal-criterion mechanism,” meaning that posts must meet a certain bar of engagement in order to be displayed on other users’ feeds who have chosen the same topic or interest. And unlike other forum sites like Reddit, where posts are made exclusively to one thread, the algorithm analyzing posts to sort them means anyone interested in an identified topic will see it.
