Many creators are urging Instagram to make the political content limit an optional feature that users can choose to enable, rather than being automatically turned on. Instagram is recognized for categorizing political content as anything that may be “potentially related to things like laws, elections, or social topics”— allowing for a wide range of interpretation by the app. Political creators are worried they may experience the negative effects of these restrictions on their ability to earn a living, as it becomes more challenging to expand their audience reach.
