Plagiarism detection is finding more and more papers written by artificial intelligence. Turnitin has examined over 200M papers written by high school and college students, discovering that 11% of them may contain language produced by AI, making up 20% of the content. Additionally, 3% of the papers reviewed were identified as having 80% or more of their content written by AI. As of now, there is no definitive method to find the use of AI in academic writing, as the text it generates is currently deemed as original content. Adding to the growing problem, some teachers are even incorporating generative AI in their grading procedures, which is a little ironic. (Wired)
