Italy is fining TikTok €10M for insufficiently protecting young people. The Italian competition watchdog found TikTok guilty of not taking enough steps to protect young users from harmful content—and summoned the social platform to pay a hefty fine for it. Social media giants like Meta and TikTok are increasingly facing pressure from regulators in the European Union to safeguard underage users and comply to privacy regulations.
