The rise of remote / hybrid work is resulting in less work friendships. Removing the social aspect of working in an office has resulted in Gen Z especially making less friendships from their jobs. But, for many young workers, forming office friendships isn’t even considered as part of the job equation. Remote workers, particularly those who are new to the job, are not completely focused on workplace relationships because they don’t have to interact in person with colleagues during the day. Some enjoy having their work / life balance combined, but for others, it is two entirely separate social worlds. (WSJ)
