A new bill is being introduced to assist emancipated minors and people under 30. Michigan Democratic Representative Rashida Tlaib introduced the proposal to offer $1,400, or market-value rent, for three years to combat youth homelessness and explore housing solutions. In one of Tlaib’s studies, she found that 10% of adults 18-25-years-old have experienced homelessness at some point in their life. She emphasizes the need for innovative approaches and adds, “By providing direct cash assistance, we can address our housing crisis while respecting the autonomy and dignity of the folks receiving assistance.” (Newsweek)
