Young adults are prioritizing sleep over late-night partying. Bedtimes are moving earlier, with a recent analysis of Sleep Number smart-bed customers showing that 18-34-year-olds went to bed at 10:06pm on average in January, compared to 10:18pm in January of 2023. (Which may not seem like a big shift, but those in their 20s reported they prefer getting an average of nine hours and 28 minutes of sleep.) Many are choosing to recognize the importance of a good night’s rest for their health rather than going out to clubs and bars. This shift in behavior has led businesses to adapt by offering daytime events and alternatives to traditional nightlife options. YPulse’s Nightlife and Drinking report shows nearly seven in 10 young people would rather stay in on the weekends opposed to going out at night. (WSJ)
