A new report suggests that anime may be as culturally significant and more widely viewed than the NFL for Gen Z.

A new report suggests that anime may be as culturally significant and more widely viewed than the NFL for Gen Z. The report from Polygon surveyed 4,275 Americans aged 18-and-older and found that 42% of Gen Z respondents watch anime weekly, compared to only 25% who follow the NFL. This data raises questions about the impact of anime on the streaming industry and its potential to influence the “streaming wars.” Overall, the findings suggest that anime has become a significant source of entertainment and emotional support for a growing number of young viewers, making it a noteworthy competitor in the industry. YPulse’s TV and Entertainment report shows nearly four in 10 Gen Z watch anime regularly, and it’s most popular among teens.
