Strava’s Year in Sport Trend report highlights Gen Z’s exercise behaviors and habits. The report reveals that Gen Z is primarily motivated by performance and aesthetics when it comes to staying active, but they also prioritize social connection—by seeing friends’ or family’s activities on Strava. The report also identifies barriers to exercise, such as lack of time due to work demands, which is cited by over two-thirds of athletes across gens. Additionally, household responsibilities and a lack of safe places to exercise were identified as barriers to exercise—where men were more likely to cite household responsibilities and women more likely to cite lack of safe places.
