On the other hand, dating apps are no longer that appealing to college students. According to an Axios / Generation Lab survey of college and graduate students, 79% “said they don’t use any dating apps even as infrequently as once a month.” Amongst the various dating apps, Tinder is the one they said they use the most, but still only “12% said they used [it] at least monthly.” Overall, this is a bit concerning given dating apps’ target audience is college aged students, especially with companies like Tinder and Bumble frequently advertising and hosting campus events. In reality, the majority of young adults prefer to meet one another in person and one respondent even wrote, “I’d rather meet and start as friends than use an app that’ll most likely end in hookups.” YPulse’s Dating & Relationships report shows a third of 18-39-year-olds have used dating apps before, but not strictly for finding their forever partner.
