The “generational slang divide” is causing communication barriers between gens in the workplace. A new report from Preply found that 30% of Gen X workers struggle with understanding their Millennial and Gen Z coworkers, while about a quarter of Gen Z reported having trouble understanding older coworkers. As Gen Z slang is the emerging lingo dominating the workplace, 28% of Millennials find themselves taking on this gen’s language to fit in better with young coworkers. YPulse research shows that Gen Z fueling workplace culture isn’t necessarily a new trend; they’ve also been rethinking old taboos and increasing transparency about mental health and salary.
