Hallmark is pairing up with Venmo to appeal to Gen Z consumers. The classic greeting card company is looking to target the next generation of consumers by integrating digital payments into their cards. Last month, Hallmark linked with mobile payment app Venmo on over a dozen co-branded cards that are available both online and in-store, containing a QR code that givers load funds onto Venmo, and recipients can scan to access the money. The SVP of global product development, innovation & licensing at Hallmark says, “As we were looking at these gifting trends… so much of it is happening in a digitally-enabled space.” YPulse research shows that Venmo is among the top four mobile / peer-to-peer payment services that Gen Z uses—and with this, they may be inclined to use it more for their holiday cash.
