There is a growing sentiment amongst Gen Z of rejecting the traditional path to attend college.Between living in a post-pandemic society and an unpredictable economy, more of Gen Z is questioning whether college is the right move for them. A study from the World Economic Forum earlier this year found that four million less Americans enrolled in college last year compared to 2012; a large factor of this consequence is the growing cost of attending college and the declining salary of college graduates in today’s economy. Instead, Gen Z is turning to paths including entrepreneurship and skilled-trade programs (which have seen a 40% increase following the pandemic). YPulse research also shows that Gen Z students are significantly less likely to say they plan to go to college compared to 2019. (Business Insider)
