The CEO of Betterworks is using the “Lazy girl job” trend online to reexamine the relationship between bosses and employees. The social media phenomenon that is going viral on TikTok is a humorous nod to jobs that don’t exceed 9-5 hours, provide a good salary, and stable benefits—perfect for “lazy girls.” But Doug Dennerline, the CEO of Betterworks, is calling to other leaders’ attention that this trend is a call to action to address burnout culture within the workplace. He says that “lazy girl jobs” don’t mean that these employees “endorse lethargy or a lack of ambition. If anything, it champions the idea of healthy boundaries.” And he believes that companies need to make a better effort at repairing a healthy relationship with their workers by building trust and implementing health and well-being in the workplace.
