Snapchat creators that develop artificial intelligence (AR) lenses can now earn money. The new Lens Creator Rewards program will compensate AR creators / developers for up to $7.2K a month, depending on their Lens’ performance and engagement levels on the app. The platform will start out by solely paying creators whose Lenses perform well in the U.S., India, and Mexico, but users from 40 eligible countries will eventually have the chance to earn money from the rewards program. Snapchat’s director of AR Platform Partnerships and Ecosystem explains “if [the program] is successful, then we’ll definitely roll it out further.” YPulse has previously discussed how social platforms have been expanding their monetization programs for young creators to make money, so Snapchat’s latest program will provide another opportunity to earn beyond typical influencing.
