Top children’s medical institutions, including Boston Children’s Hospital, are consolidating artificial intelligence components into their healthcare. The hospital’s Chief Innovation Officer is working to evolve the technology used for treatment while also reassuring patients and their families, as well as staff, that AI is not here to replace human care: “This is not meant as a replacement for the human. This is an augmentation. So there’s always a human in the loop.” For example, the Boston Children’s Hospital is hiring prompt engineers, which are tech specialists who develop AI programs to increase efficiency within the hospital. The goal of this technology is to avoid “provider burnout” and introduce forms of AI within the hospital to improve the organization as a whole. YPulse’s AI Unpacked trend report data shows only 18% of Millennial parents think AI could take over the careers of healthcare professionals. (Mashable)
