TikTok is celebrating Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Gen Z’s favorite social platform is hosting a series of themed live-stream events throughout the month, highlighting Asian and Pacific Islander (API) artists, musicians, and dancers. Additionally, TikTok will be promoting the music of API musicians, featuring playlists from various artists and genres. The company will also launch its first-ever API Visionary Voices group, which will recognize API creatives, business owners, and culture changemakers. The app announced that its Sounds page will “feature special guest playlists from Keshi and mxmtoon, as well as genre playlists for Hip-Hop, K-Pop, Indie, #SouthAsian sounds and more.” The initiative is part of TikTok’s broader effort to promote community engagement and increase its connective value to more groups.
