RTRO is a new social app using ChatGPT—and is completely designed for Gen Z. Expecting to enter the iOS app store this week, RTRO is putting a focus on mental health by “omitting addictive algorithms,” which we know from Gen Z that TikTok’s certainly is. The app aims to become a new group chat hub: it’s private group chat section, RTROCircles, “allows users to create groups and share text, links, images and videos.” Brands and influencers will be able to do the same in public channels through RTROTV, where they can “send out content to followers in a DM format.” Like most social platforms, users will be able to respond to public posts with likes, but they’ll also be able to chat with an “Ask AI” account, which uses ChatGPT tech in a DM format. Every Friday, it will send prompts to encourage users to ask for suggestions on what to do over the weekend like restaurant or activity recommendations. So far, several beauty brands are already using the app, including Loops Beauty and Alastin Skincare. (Glossy)
