Toddlers in France are watching video content way above the recommended guidelines. A new study in the country shows that time spent in front of screens has significantly increased in the last few years. Now, French two-year-olds are watching an average of 56 minutes of video content every day, and this number rises to 80 minutes for three-year-olds, and 94 minutes for five-year-olds. The official recommendation from the World Health Organization is to avoid screen time before the age of two, but in France, only 14% of children under the age of two are not watching screens at all. The study also revealed that television is the main screen watched by young children, in line with YPulse’s research showing that 70% of French Millennial parents say their children use TV to watch video content weekly—more than any other screen.
