Parisians have voted to ban e-scooters from the streets of the French capital. In a local referendum held on Sunday, Parisians voted a clear “no” to electric scooters, with 90% of voters saying they were against this means of transportation. Parisians were concerned by the number of accidents in the city, but also about the aesthetics of the e-scooters, which often end up looking “like big piles of rubbish on every street corner.” Despite their efforts to maintain e-scooters in the capital—such as offering free rides on Sunday and rallying influencers online—the three e-scooter brands (Dott, Lime, and Tier Mobility) will be staying away from the streets of Paris soon, only a few years after they were introduced.
