Footwear brands are creating kids’ versions of their popular shoes to get a bigger piece of family spending. From big brands like Crocs to newbies like Kane, kids’ lines are being developed and grown to tap into a growing market. The kids’ shoe market is set to grow by $18B by 2026, and kids’ shoes from adult brands are reportedly highly requested by parents. Athletic shoe brands are positioning their action-focused designs as perfect for recess and growing feet. As for brands like Ugg, Dr. Martens, and Birkenstock building out their kids’ offerings, one expert says, “Obviously, they’re looking to what’s next and to maybe capture that consumer at a younger age and get kids into the brand and create kind of lifelong customers.” And we’d add that these brands are already favorites among Millennials, so Millennial parents are primed to eat up mini-versions of them for their little ones.
