“Office peacocking” has the potential to lure young workers out of their work-from-home comfort. YPulse’s Employment and Career Goals report shows the majority of young workers prefer work they’re passionate about—and now it looks like they prefer glamorous office spaces, too. According to Owl Labs’ “State of Remote Work” report, “employers must go beyond instituting the flexible arrangements today’s employees demand — they must also be ‘intentional’ about how company headquarters look and operate now.” Brooklyn-based design firm ROOM has worked with 6K companies globally (including Google, Starbucks, and Lucasfilm) and they’re just one example of “office peacocking” by transforming workplaces into modern and unique spaces. For example, they’ve inserted soundproof meeting pods and rooms specifically designed for Zoom calls. But more importantly, young workers want to work in spaces that resemble a living room featured in Architectural Digest, especially after growing used to working from the comfort of their own homes.
