Gen Z doesn’t believe they need a degree (or necessarily a nine-to-five job) to have a successful career. According to a global study from freelancing job platform Fiverr and Censuswide, 70% of Gen Z say “they consider freelancing to be just as viable a career option as a traditional nine-to-five.” YPulse’s recent Finance / Spending Monitor data shows that 37% of 18-24-year olds are currently freelancing. The Fiverr study also found that 36% of Gen Z in the U.S. say the “ability to build skills at a new job was a primary factor in their [job] search.” This gen is putting less pressure on themselves to take traditional life paths and our Education report data shows 68% of Gen Z agree: “I don’t need college to be successful,” and they know there are other ways to build a career.
